As leaders, management can be or do a lot of things, but leaders must lead. Once the pieces are in place for goals, attitudes and proper employee behaviors, the responsibility for honoring the commitment to both customers and employees must be maintained by all management players. Now, not acting on below average performers devalues everyone's efforts. Therefore, critical management decisions to replace poor performing individuals are made easier and faster, thus, minimizing the painful downturn of company's performance due to few weak performers.
